At the foot of the Dublin mountains resides one of the city’s liveliest dining experiences. It’s a must-see night of traditional music, dance and entertainment.

Housed in The Merry Ploughboy Pub, the evening’s event is hosted, in true Irish style, by the owners themselves - The Merry Ploughboys band. The group is regarded as one of the finest traditional and folk groups in Ireland. And these especially renowned, lively and entertaining performers have been going since 1989, making this the city's longest running show of its kind... and by the same performers.

The show is a two hour event of fast paced song and music, with a little Irish dancing mixed in. It’s a night to set your toes tapping, hands clapping and participation is encouraged - although there’s no encouragement necessary.

The show costs €20, or for €49.50 you can get a four course meal into the bargain. And you get what you pay for – a bountiful traditional fare cooked to perfection, great entertainment and service all in the same venue. Children's tickets are half-price.

The pub itself dates back to the 1780s, adding to the sense of authenticity. Upstairs is home to the main event, and with such popularity booking is recommended. It’s a popular spot with the locals, too, who fill the bar downstairs. And, should you fancy, you can join them for a tipple before or after the show.
