Sophiatown The Mix heritage centre is located in the historic neighbourhood of Sophiatown, the 1950s home of South Africa's Drum generation of artists, poets and musicians. An intimate jazz concert venue, the regular Sophiatown Jazz Encounters events see some of the leading names in jazz in Joburg taking to the stage.

Legendary apartheid-era singer-songwriter, musical arranger and actress Abigail Kubeka returns to her teenage roots in Sophiatown, teaming up with Grammy-nominated singer Sharon Katz and her band the Peace Train for a special birthday concert. This is not the first time Kubeka and Katz have joined forces; they toured the US together and in 2011 released the Double Take album with Dolly Rathebe. They once again join forces for a trip down memory lane, performing favourites and classics from their extensive careers.
