Devil Museum

  Putvinskio 64      (+370) 67 51 33 72     more than a year ago
This unusual museum owes its existence to the artist and collector Antanas Žmuidzinavičius (1876-1966) who accumulated over 2,000 depictions of devils made out of all kinds of materials from every corner of the planet during his long and productive life. Featuring statues, masks and even a few household objects fashioned into miscellaneous satanic likenesses, the collection’s spread out over three floors and is roughly grouped together according to different themes.

An extremely unique and a one of a kind museum! Thousands of devils are on display from all over the world! I highly suggest a guided tour in your native language. Cost is 40 Litas.....but it is VERY informative!

I first visited here in 1995, and re-visited in 2008, and it didn't look like the museum had changed much, but a devil museum is probably unique throughout the museum world, and the collection is quite vast. Definitely a must see in Kaunas, and it's located close to a couple of other museums, so you can do a clean sweep of the area in one afternoon.

He may have happened to look that way, but he was a devil as well.
