Battle of Kosovo Monument

A monument proudly commemorating an embarrassing defeat stands 400 metres off the Pristina-Mitrovica road. The tower built in 1953 for the anniversary of the 1389 Battle of Kosovo was used by Slobodan Milosevic as a backdrop to his infamous 1989 speech during the 600th anniversary of the battle, rallying the crowds for the Serbian cause – this is when the weird concrete tubes were added alongside the tower. You can climb to the top of the tower for the view of the plateau and the mountains beyond.

Admission free.
