Churches

Prizren has several wonderful medieval churches, as well as a handful of more modern ones. All of the Orthodox Christian churches and chapels are now guarded by the Kosovo Police, some closed and surrounded by barbed wire, others with officers on constant guard. Apart from the Episcopal Church of St George which is usually open, most Orthodox churches are locked up. Those keen on viewing the interiors are advised to contact the Institution for Protection of Monuments (IPM) in advance to enquire about the possibility of entering these buildings.
