100-Year Anniversary of the Incorporation of Podgórze and Kraków

ul. Zamoyskiego 6 ,   Podgórze         more than a year ago
This mural alongside the stairs leading into Podgórze's glorious Bednarski Park celebrates the 100 year anniversary (1915-2015) of the district's incorporation into Kraków. Featured on the mural are some of the formerly independent city of Podgórze's most prominent citizens: Wojciech Bednarski (who founded the 8.5 hectare park here), Antoni Stawarz (organiser of the liberation of Kraków in 1918), Agnieszka Jałbrzykowska (the first woman to be declared an honorary citizen of Podgórze in 1887), Franciszek Maryjewski (the last mayor of Podgórze), and Antoni Mateczny (founder of the nearby Mateczny spa).
