By train

The first train service between Riga and Jurmala started in 1877. Over a century later the electrichka , electrical commuter train, is still slow and takes 40 minutes from the central train station to Majori. Trains leave roughly every half hour from 05:28 to 23:05 in summer, from platforms 3 and 4.

By car

Drive along the well-kept 15km long highway from Riga, which is the best stretch of highway in Latvia. The route is also dubbed '10 minutes in America' as this was the set for Soviet movies about the capitalist American enemy. Capitalism is still alive and kicking here: all motorists have to stop at the control post to pay a 1Ls/day toll
