The old spa town of Ķemeri with its late 19th and early 20th-century architecture is worth a visit if you're in the area. To get there take either a Tukums or a Ķemeri bound train from Riga. Walk through the quaint hamlet until you reach the mineral spring pavilion and the grand Ķemeri Hotel, which will supposedly be opened as luxury accommodation sometime in the future. The Meža māja information centre for the nearby national park and the beginning of a park walking route are only a short walk away from here just off of Tūristu iela.
