Opened in 1908, the White Sauna is owned and operated by an American-Latvian who happens to be a direct descendant of its founder. Both traditional Latvian and modern saunas are available as well as a swimming pool, baths, a cafe and English-speaking staff.

Sydney 14 October 2008 Great place. Large, clean. It's also a public establishment, not to be confused with the many smaller private saunas normally rented by groups, and not designed for individual visitors. There's usually an English-speaking staff member around at the Balta Pirts. The best thing is that it's easy to find; if you go to the addresses of many saunas/pirts in Riga there's nothing to indicate to a foreigner that any sort of bath house exists at that location.
