The location on Alberta iela, Riga’s most impressive outdoor art nouveau gallery, will no doubt guarantee this small café a steady clientele of tourists. The interior includes photos of the city’s most picturesque façades and even antique-style streetlamps as lighting, but the cost of a slice of bread with a few toppings seems like a lot to pay for a ‘sandwich’. If however you’re in the mood for a piece of cake, a cappuccino or a glass of Stella Artois then it might be worth a visit.

The first of opera director Andrejs Žagars' many café ventures, and the only one to survive, Osiris found a successful recipe in the mid-1990s and stuck with it.
