With a name like Ali Baba one might expect exotic Middle Eastern food and a carpet-laden interior to match, but that would be too much to ask of Riga. Large comfy booths, orange walls, Egyptian hieroglyphics, a painting of a Bedouin having a tender moment with a naked blond on a sand dune and a Latvian radio station on the hi-fi is closer to the mark. Order generous servings of decent Central Asian cuisine like manti (lamb dumplings) and lagman (lamb stew with noodles) or 20 different pizzas.
