Apparently during Soviet times a rumočnaja was a small bar where you could run in for a quick 100g of vodka and a slice of rye bread topped with smoked fish. The concept has been adhered to at De Gusto, where chest-high circular tables are surrounded by patrons of all ages and backgrounds having a drink and a snack before moving on to the next place. You can order traditional bacon fat or smoked fish sandwiches and by all means try its potent homemade horseradish vodka poured from a container that looks like a science experiment gone wrong.
