Bānūzis
This isn’t the place to go with your girlfriend, wife or mistress for that matter. They wouldn’t be impressed by the plain grey interior, the shabby furniture, the men who hang out here or its location behind the Soviet Academy of Sciences building.

Bon Vivant
Solid wood furniture, a cosy atmosphere and assorted Benelux decorations aren't the only things that make this place an authentic Belgian beer bar.

Donegan’s Pub
This shamrock covered pub seems to have sprung up out of thin air, but we’re not complaining, especially since it’s just around the corner from RIYP headquarters.

Queens Public House
This so-called public house has all of the trappings of an English pub, or at least what locals think one might look like, with wooden furniture and old-fashioned wallpaper, not to mention a fake fireplace and a few TVs showing sports.

Runcis
The kind of place where you wish everybody knew your name. It's totally Latvian in its beer, food, and frequenters, who are usually playing chess, playing cards and exchanging anecdotes.

If you’re a connoisseur of the finer things in life, namely good beer and whisky, than a trip to this bar is compulsory when in Riga.

Victory Pub
As our faces registered the sight of dark red walls and matching curtains the friendly waitress confided in us that she also thought the interior was reminiscent of a tart’s boudoir, but she assured us that the food and drink were just fine.
