  I found this bar by chance as I was staying just around the corner at the Hotel Hanza. They have a ‘happy hour’ every day from 17.00-19.00hrs when half a litre of lager costs just 50 santims [L0.50]. The regular price was only 80 santims [L0.80] which still seemed cheap when compared to most other bars in central Riga where prices were double that or more. They also offered food although the menu was in Latvian only. The bar staff are happy to translate but maybe having an English menu available would help them to sell more meals to tourists. While the neighbourhood may be a little down at heel, the bar itself was friendly and became my 'local' in Riga for the three nights I was there. My last night coincided with the bar’s first birthday party which meant an open mic and a non stop procession of complimentary bar snacks throughout the evening to accompany the local lager and shots of Riga Balzams. An enjoyable night out for only a couple of Lats. If you’re staying at the Hanza Hotel or you’re visiting the central market then, at these prices, it’s certainly worth dropping in.
