Varzoba

Varzoba
A Google search reveals that Varzob is a town in Tajikistan, not far from the capital Dushanbe and not much else. This Varzob happens to be a tiny café at the back end of the modern addition to the Town Hall that serves delicious Central Asian cuisine like lagman (tomato, noodle and lamb soup) with fresh non (bread) for cheap, not to mention very affordable Užavas beer on draught. The food and drink is also usually served by its friendly owner who always greets his patrons with a smile.

I agree: excellent value for money. There is a choice of half or full-size portions. I had the full-size 'shursh' (soup) and 'plov' (a rice dish). No need for dinner after all that. The service was quick (I was the only person there) and friendly, and the bill came to under 6 lats. Next time I am in Riga, I will definitely go there again.

This place truly is a gem!Varzob doesn't look like the finest eatery in the world, but the food is absolutely wonderful and incredibly cheap! The owner is a sweet old man whose service might be a little slow, but it is part of the authentic experience. The Uzbek music on the background adds to the cozy atmosphere of this tiny restaurant with true character!
