Located in a sprawling hotel complex in the centre of Old Riga that once housed a medieval convent, Ambiente has found its inspiration in Riga’s more recent past – at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries when Art Nouveau, known locally as Jugendstil, was all the rage. The restaurant is spread out across five rooms that are designed to look like a classic Art Nouveau apartment of the time. Dine on refined Latvian cuisine from beer-battered herring and sorrel-barley soup with smoked pork to venison sausages and blood pudding with lingonberry jam.
