This upmarket restaurant specialising in French and international cuisine has forsaken its beautiful 19th-century building in favour of a more modern setting among the art nouveau buildings on Strēlnieku iela. Dine on the Latvian beef steak with potato soufflé and red wine sauce or on any of the other dishes prepared from local organic produce. The main hall is rather formal with white tablecloths and paintings on the beige and grey walls, but a small bakery is also available to the right selling croissants and other pastries.

My wife and I went for lunch to celebrate a special occasion. Service was cordial and thankfully not annoying. Food was mixed. On this tuesday they were out of fois gras (at a French restaurant no less). The veal carpaccio was inedible, but was exchanged for a very nice chevre/mozzarello salad without argument. While the chicken breast was dry, the nice lamb was in a heavenly sauce with a great Ls4 glass of Cotes-du-Rhone. Good value on the yummy house cake dessert. With most of Riga's restaurants disappointing, I would go again and take more care to order the standards.
