Housed in an early 19th-century wooden building, Different Times boasts a rustic interior decorated with antiques and, for some odd reason, the occasional Jack Daniels ad. Large servings of traditional Latvian meals, meaning lots of pork and potatoes, are brought to your table by friendly wait staff dressed in provocative linen outfits.

We had a nice Latvian meal there. Agreed reasonable prices and good value. Excellent grey peas and bacon. The waitress did a good job of handling our large group and was very pleasant. Nice ambience of old Latvian restaurant with few tourists. Recommended!
We had a great meal here, starting with scrumptious baked cauliflower with mushrooms and cheese, then going on to the wonderful speciality of black peas with onions and bacon, and finally enjoying some delicious potato pancakes with berries and sour cream. We also had delicious dark beer. Everything was fresh, well-presented, typical Latvian food and drink, and the prices were reasonable. We'll go back again. If you want to see what the Latvians traditionally eat, this is the place to do it, and it has a charming atmosphere, uncrowded and not touristy, at least not when we were there.
