The staff are polite, the location is fantastic and the nouvelle Latvian cuisine, like the venison with blackberry jam, is tasty and, for the most part, authentic. However, the fake antique interior with its just-taken-out-of-the-box look, not to mention the plastic flowers, cheapen the atmosphere and make you realise that you’re in a Disneyfied bar in a pretty ‘medieval’ building that didn’t even exist 15 years ago.

  On a recent visit we ate at Salve twice. On both occasions the food was excellent and beautifully cooked. Service was friendly and attentive and the meal was perfectly paced. The prices were pretty good too. An excellent choice

  My wife and me had dinner there on August 13, 2008. Nice atmosphere,unfortunately spoiled by a group of very noisy German(Bavarian)guests. Service polite and efficient. Some of the food (sausages) not quite up to our expectations, but excellent cabbage soup. Forgot my credit card there, got it back next morning without problems. Compares favourably to other eating places in Riga.

  I had dinner there. One of the best restaurants for Latvian food in Riga. Service polite and fast. Very nicely and elegantly furnished. I can only recommend as one of the nicer eating places in Riga.

  We had a great weekend in Riga, but Salve was a joke. The food was OK, but the service (especially from the manager Vera) was terrible. Do not go there!
