Named after a famous Latvian novel and film, The Fisherman’s Son is more of a fish restaurant than a seafood venue, as you won’t find any scallops or lobsters on the menu, but plenty of salmon, catfish, trout and herring from the Baltic Sea and Latvia’s rivers and lakes. A few dishes from animals that don’t have gills are also available as well as a small breakfast menu, but bear in mind that its location at a major tourist thoroughfare means that even a local beer will cost you dearly. If not for its new, squeaky-clean appearance, the interior of tiled walls, dark wood and hanging chandeliers might make you wonder if you’ve stumbled into a classic Belgian café.
