I returned to Bergs a couple of months ago. Maybe it's the dollar lat exchange rate or something but I didn't feel that the meal represented as good a quality for price as in the past. The service was excellent as always and so was the food. Either they've raised the prices or the dollar is even lower than it was because I left the restaurant feeling like I should have eaten somewhere else for a better price.
Our plan was to have the five-course-menu, but due to late arrival in the evening / no reservation of table (our fault), we had to settle with a la carte. However, with appetizer and main course together with excellent wine, we were by all means satisfied and had no room left for dessert. Atmosphere, service and food were all excellent and moneyworth. Half the price of similar meals at home. With several guests although not full up, we were well taken care of by waiter. A stylish but still informal place for special occasions or if you simply want to show your dearest how much you appreciate her/him.
I ate an early dinner at Bergs one Friday, and was the only one in the restaurant. The menu is very imaginative and the ingredients are top quality and freshness. The service is also first rate, but then again, the waiter only had to serve me. The meal with wine was not cheap, but Bergs is highly recommended for anyone in search of a special occasion while in Riga. Everything will be great. After dinner, if it's still early enough, there's a very original chocolate shop next door for dessert.
