This elegant restaurant has re-opened after major renovations were made to the Metropole, Riga’s oldest continuously running hotel. Its chandeliers, brass fixtures, Persian-style carpets and paintings have all been moved to the opposite end of the ground floor and although the menu has changed to attract a more budget-minded public, old favourites such as the giant grilled steak served on an oak platter with mashed potatoes are still on offer. A 3.20Ls business lunch is also available.
Breakfast daily from 07:30 for 5Ls. (5 - 10Ls)

This restaurant has a lovely open ambience in the summer, and strangely turns all cozy and embracing in the winter. I don't know how they do that. I have been here several times over the past five years and have always had excellent food, whether it be seafood (like those scallops) or salads or interesting wines. I've always had waiters who were not only professional, but liked to talk as well. Not typically Latvian. Lots of businessmen coming into the restaurant from the hotel, so a mix of old world graceful decor and a sharper business bar.
