Pinot

Riga’s top restaurants finally have some real competition. Pinot’s incredibly stylish interior is divided into separate sections: the main hall on the ground floor with views of the street outside, a more intimate setting upstairs next to a wall decorated with wine bottles, a banquet area behind the bar and a cosy lounge upstairs. Dine on delicious French and Italian inspired dishes from Chilean sea bass and pan seared scallops to Charlois beef entrecote while the chefs work their magic behind a glass partition at the back of the restaurant. A wine cellar including over 150 vintages is manned by two somelliers and you can even buy bottles to take away.

A very inviting restaurant with a creative menu and professional service. Nice wine selection to go with the nice views out on the square. The only negative is that I showed up early for dinner (about 5 30) the place was empty except for me but they didn't want to seat me by a window. People were only starting to arrive when I was leaving an hour later. Oh well.

Delicious food varied menu and great service. We were only in Riga for two nights and ate here the second. It was wonderful. The serving sizes were perfect. The waiter was attentive and knowledgeable. One of us had fish the other the venison. Both were delicious.

A few days in Riga can be exciting for a food enthousiast... We visited Pinot yesterday. Overall a very nice and modern venue with high quality food and great wines. Friendly service (we've seen otherwise in other restaurants), a good sommelier and a beautiful dining room. As well as any Michelin star restaurant anywhere else in Europe. And the bill was simply ridiculous... Three course meal, 2 bottles of top wines (both Antinori) and coffee for only 106 Ls. There's just one thing that shows that Latvian cuisine is still in it's infant years: portions are way too big (the starter -risotto- alone was enough) and it's not REALLY refined yet. However: absolutely worthwile. Highly recommended!
