Synagogue [Peitav Shul]

Synagogue
Built in 1905, this is the only surviving Jewish prayer house and the main meeting place for the 12,000-strong community. Although it was used as a warehouse during the Nazi occupation, its sacred scrolls and other treasures were hidden and escaped destruction. It is said that the building was not burned to the ground as others had been due to its close proximity to other houses in Old Riga.

Admission: donations.
