A beautiful, higgledy-piggledy building overlooking the river a kilometre or so west of town at the top of a track, Birštono Seklytėlė is worth a visit even if you have to get there on foot. Set among a glade of evergreens, the outdoor terrace location affords one of the finest views in the region, whilst the indoor space with its large windows and understated design makes eating here at any time of the year well worth the effort. The food is primarily but not exclusively Lithuanian, with the outdoor-cooked šašlykai (skewered kebabs) a particular favourite. Other things to write home about include the possibility of a visiting wedding party and plenty of things to keep the kids entertained.

I've been to Birštono Seklytėlė twice while visiting Birstonas, in 2002 and 2008. This is a great local restaurant, unspoiled by tourism. The staff spoke just enough English to make us comfortable. The food, mostly upscale Lithuanian dishes, was expertly prepared,,, and very tasty !!! Another thing, the beer & wine were not over priced. In fact everything was priced very reasonable. The staff was attentive but not too much so. Try to get there in warmer weather and get an outdoor booth overlooking the river, it's a great view. This is one of my favorite places in eastern Europe!Frank SedzielarzFridley MN, USA
