An extraordinary rollercoaster ride through the town’s ups and downs, albeit in Lithuanian only, discover everything from the personal dentists’ chair and tools belonging to Ignas Šablauskas (1861-1933), a small exhibition on the local branch of the Sąjūdis movement including the first legal Lithuanian flag made towards the end of Soviet rule, much concerning the local spa and mud trade, a model of the city in 1940, a small exhibition dedicated to Balys Sruoga (see Monuments) and much more beside. Be sure to check out the wacky carved wood seat by the entrance.
