How to get there
By trainAbout 100km northeast of Vilnius, Ignalina sees seven trains a day arrive from Vilnius, with a journey time of just under two hours. A one-way ticket (currently 9.60Lt) can be bought without reservation on the day of travel. You have absolutely no reason to hang around Ignalina train station. The main hall comes with relatively clean toilets, ticket hall and not much else. A small café is also located inside the building (Open 09:00 - 17:00), but you wouldn't want to go there voluntarily.
By busBus services from Vilnius are few and far between, but the trip does pass through some great countryside on the way and is worth considering on that point alone. The bus station, not unlike the train station directly opposite, is geared towards the locals. Find public telephones and a small waiting room (Open 04:00 - 20:00) inside. Adjacent to the main building to the left is left luggage (Open 08:00 - 20:00) if you need it.
By carDrive north out of Vilnius on the A102 and keep following the signs. Journey time 60-90 minutes. Likewise, Ignalina can be reached from Visaginas in the north by taking the same road in the opposite direction.
