Public transport
Bus & Trolleybus A substantial network of city-owned buses and trolleybuses criss-crosses the city seven days a week from around 05:00 until about 23:00. Tickets, which are valid for one single journey of any length, cost 1.80Lt and can be bought from any kiosk in the city. Alternatively, for an extra 0.20Lt buy one directly from the driver. Tickets bought from a kiosk need to be validated in the appropriate machine when you board. Tickets bought from the driver are already time-stamped. Route maps and schedules are posted at all stops. For more information see the excellent website at
transportas.kaunas.lt.
Minibus The city also has a large fleet of private minibuses, often sporting the same numbers and ploughing the same routes as the above-mentioned machines. Stop one anywhere in the street, pay 2Lt, and asked to be dropped off wherever you need to be along the route.
