B.O.

Exactly the sort of place one imagines on every street corner in the brave new Eastern Europe, B.O. (Blue Orange) is actually a rare treat in Lithuania and a welcome find indeed. Scruffy, predominantly unpretentious and peopled by a collection of alternative 20-somethings who favour a more unprocessed kind of lifestyle over that enjoyed by the sickly-sweet MTV generation, this highly recommended bar, DJ hangout and occasional live music venue positively breathes fresh air into a rapidly improving Old Town.

Nice little bar. Nice pint and nice snacks. One of Kaunas' better places.

I am currently a masters student living in Kaunas and my apartment is around the corner from B.O. Its patrons are primarily student aged folk with the occasional German tourists finding there way in. The atmosphere is cozy and friendly. Good music (mostly alt. and indie rock) accompanies a decent collection of bar fare and beer snacks and the people are nothing but inviting. The B.O. has become an extension to our family room here and will remain a go-to bar for the next two years. Side note: there is free WiFi internet and the house beer is also the cheapest we have come across in the area.
