Strong suggestion, do not go to this place. You'll find only junk food at double price there. There's nice casino/cafe close to it, with the professional approach to food/serving and lower price (twice).[...]

  • Žalias Ratas
I remember my first visit to Zalias Raitas in October 1999. It was cold and rainy that night. The place had a nice fire going and the atmosphere was outstanding. I've been back several times. It's a gem. The food is okay too.[...]
  • Miesto Sodas
I've been to Miesto Sodas on Laives Aleja probably 50 times between 1999 and 2005. It was one of my favorite places for lunch in Kaunas. Reasonably priced good food and drinks, a pleasant atmosphere, with fairly good service.[...]

Good morning. I`m a sailor from Poland. I have got a question: Is it a sluice in dam of Kaunas Sea? I would like to sail from Grodno to Kłajpeda this spring. Thank you for your answer. Best regards. Adam Molenda

    Good morning Adam,
We know a lot of things but I must confess that we don't know if there's a sluice in the dam in the Kaunas Sea. There's a good list of water-related contacts in Kaunas on the city's tourist information website. Alternatively you could contact the TIC directly.

  • Pizza Hut

    Editor's note:
Here's a quick translation of the key points:
1 - Disappointing and not at all like Pizza Hut in other countries.
2 - BBQ chicken wings are not spicy at all and come with plain old ketchup.
3 - The service was terrible.
4 - They are ruining the Pizza Hut name.[...]

Restaurants & Cafés

Everything from exclusive white tablecloth dining to the classic Soviet-era valgykla awaits visitors to Lithuania’s second city. With very few exceptions service is if not appalling then at least indifferent, so if you want to have a good time eating in the city your best option is to leave your Western expectations at home or take a few friends along to cushion the blow. What’s the point in travelling somewhere different if everything’s the same anyway? Tipping is only necessary in better restaurants and places where you feel it’s deserved. The norm is around 10 per cent, or you can simply round up the bill.
