Seating up to 500 people, this fine building built in 1892 with further 20th-century additions stages everything from opera and operetta to other musical plays and performances. Over 200 shows a year between September and June. Interestingly, this was also the venue for one of the strangest pieces of theatre to take place in Lithuania, namely the congress held inside the building on July 21, 1940 that set the scene for the incorporation of Lithuania into the Soviet Union
