One of the oldest surviving Gothic buildings in the country, this compact beauty hidden away through a small gateway on the southern side of the western end of Laisvės was probably built during the second half of the 15th century with the belltower added some time later. Damaged several times throughout its history including during the 17th-century Russo-Polish War (1654-1667) and again during the fire of 1812, the church is perhaps best known today as the site of a shrine, two separate rooms at the back of the building filled with candles that burn around the clock.
