The city’s Ceramics Museum celebrates Kaunas’ role as a provider of bricks and ceramic tiles over the centuries with the help of this small dark space inside the basement of the Old Town Hall. Having said that, most of the museum is given over to temporary exhibitions of contemporary ceramics both good and bad, whilst just two rooms concentrate on history. In the latter, which have a few helpful descriptions in English, are some fine examples of ornate bricks and tiles produced in the city over the last few centuries. Also on display is a weathervane that once adorned the roof of the building and dating from the 18th century.
