The City Pub is, like its British contemporaries, more than just a pub. Home to an affordable menu of international fare including a very respectable steak as well as an almost aristocratic wine menu, the balmy summer weather hails the advent of a welcome terrace for outdoor drinking. Inside find table football and some dark rooms on two floors. At the time of writing, Miesto Smuklė was also experimenting with a few local DJs. Watch the website for upcoming events. A dinky little bar serving cheap food and a good range of alcohol, Muitinė is sometimes known to fill with colourful locals during the evening and can be an interesting diversion from the usual places in town aimed at foreigners. The nice little courtyard overlooking a quiet street is a fine place to start a pub crawl of some of the more offbeat places Klaipėda has to offer.

Lashings of vintage Americana line every wall and windowsill of this classic favourite, adding food for the eyes to a consistently fine and ambitious menu of seafood, pasta, fajitas, steak and plenty of other fun dishes. Both a restaurant and a bar, Skandalas has been packing them in for years, and for good reason. Good for a meal or a few cocktails accompanied by one of the live bands who grace the stage, there’s nothing quite like this one for atmosphere or style. If a place isn’t in the centre of the action as has been popular for more years than most care to remember, it’s impossible to deny that they must be doing something very right indeed.
