Getting there

Not surprisingly for such a thriving holiday destination, the arrival of the summer brings with it a major increase in traffic to Palanga. Buses leave for the town from just about everywhere in the country with a population of more than six inhabitants, not to mention the airport, which with the demise of Lithuania’s national airline is a veritable Heathrow by comparison. A handy little trick for those who enjoy the romance of train travel is to catch one of the daily trains to Klaipėda from Vilnius, get off at Kretinga and catch one of the regular minibus that run between the town and the coast. Palanga is also easily reached by road.
