Lithuanian taxis are considerably cheaper if called in advance rather than grabbed in the street, although you’re essentially at the mercy of the driver once you’ve shut the door. The least you can do is make sure the meter’s running before you set off. Always ensure that your hotel hasn’t got a deal with a taxi company, a ‘service’ that can cost up to three times the going rate.
