Part delightfully restored tsarist-era building, part post-Independence eyesore, Tomas is a fine hotel indeed with bright, clean rooms and a galaxy of extras from swimming pool to Russian billiards. The staff are an accommodating lot too, but the price doesn’t really match the location. Slap bang between the city centre and Akropolis, there’s not much point staying here unless you’ve got a car or can’t find anywhere else to rest your head.
