Sightseeing
Before you rush off and book 14 nights in Šventoji, remember the place is barely a village and there’s almost nothing to see. Further to the two sights listed here is the so-called Žemaičių Alka, a series of ritualistic wooden poles dating from 1988 and supposedly representing pagan-era gods. Find it on the dunes just north of the main settlement. A little further north are the fabulously named Little Hedgehog Path (??) and Big Hedgehog Path (??), a couple of trails for children and adults that won’t make a lot of sense but that are a possible distraction if you find the prehistoric pace of life in Šventoji is driving you nuts. In short, Šventoji remains a place for relaxing by the sea, renting water bicycles, eating ice cream and having a few drinks in the evening.
