Our last outing here involved entertaining a couple of under-sevens who demolished so much cake and ice cream they had to be hosed down before leaving. The treats on offer really are exceptionally good at any time of year. The ice-cream is made locally to a traditional Italian recipe.
Fantastic ice cream, yes, but the cafe itself is a relaxing spot to spend time on afternoon or evening reading a book while having a cup of tea or a glass of wine. The crowd ranges from well-heeled Lithuanians and their bratty designer-clad children to Westerners who would like some decent ice cream in the summer or a restorative drink in the winter, to young "hip" Lithuanians. I have found the service very attentive if I attracted their attention. Otherwise they never hovered over or hurried me, making the place vaguely reminiscent of an old-style Viennese cafe, where everyone is "einsam gemeinsam."
