A canteen-style Chinese eatery specialising in affordable, no frills stir-fry food for the masses. Takeaway and delivery are the specialities but there’s also room to eat inside. The food is fairly authentic, the type of thing served up all over China in fact. Bambo is of course a typo. [...]

Out of town in a somewhat shabby sleeping district, they do at least offer home delivery and are therefore worth a mention. The good thing about this place is that, unlike some other Chinese restaurants, you can get small portions that can be combined to make a meal suitable for one or a group of d [...]

The food here is so extreme in both quantity and flavour that when your stomach says Stop! your mouth just won't listen. Portions are big enough to share, and given that they cost a bomb, that's probably what’s intended. The interior is all very oriental and lush, with red and gold splashed a [...]

A bustling restaurant particularly at lunchtime, dishes on the Chinglish menu are marked as either small (M) or large (D). Popular not just because the food is good and reasonably authentic, the main motive for eating here seems to be the fact that the large dishes are big enough for all but the mo [...]

It’s ching-bling! The outstanding thing about this Chinese restaurant is that it’s in a casino that looks like an explosion in a fireworks factory. So there’s plenty of excitement for your eyes and well as your tastebuds. [...]

The computer screens scattered about make this ideal for Chinese geeks. The idea is that you order online at your table, thus dispensing with the nuisance of poor service or human interaction. Food is fine. Also at J. Jasinskio 6, tel. 260 42 60. [...]

The closest Chinese restaurant to the Chinese embassy is a small affair with plenty of obligatory lanterns, friendly staff and a television and CD player vying for attention in authentic Chinese fashion. The slightly pricey menu is extensive and generally excellent, with plate warmers on hand to ke [...]

On the same street as the Chinese embassy, a sure sign of a good Chinese restaurant if ever there was one, the Peking Duck’s menu provides just about all that was ever needed to keep lovers of authentic Chinese food happy. Featuring everything from the namesake house dish to frogs’ legs and even steamed snail, the sauces are spot on, the portions are bigger than your head and to top it all there’s even an excellent value business lunch. It can get busy, so booking a table is recommended.

Sichuan is a Chinese province commonly believed to be the origin of gong bao jiding, a popular chicken dish. It actually originated in the neighbouring province of Guiyang, but the Sichuans nicked it and added peanuts. Not surprisingly, you can get the dish here and, equally not-surprisingly, it’s not very good. It lacks the hallmark aroma and spicy-sweetness. The restaurant does, however, have a wonderful and bright dining area overlooking the back of a church. One of the best dining rooms in town.

The Three Maples sounds a bit Canadian and has a waiter who seems a bit quirky in a  French kind of way and might even be called Dominique. And there’s a fish tank. Once you get over all that strangeness you can enjoy a huge range of meals that will leave your taste buds zinging merrily. As is the case with most Chinese restaurants in Vilnius, portions are big enough to share, and hence pricey if you’re eating alone.
