This Vilnius favourite specialising in Mediterranean cooking at its best is generally crowded with tables full of well-heeled locals and foreigners tucking into a mouth-watering range of dishes including fish, grilled meat and a couple of vegetarian options. Prepared and delivered with the height of care, attention and even a little theatre, despite its reputation as a rather expensive restaurant, not only is it worth the money here there are also a number of dishes that won’t break the bank. Having said that, they do stock a couple of bottles of champagne for 1,000Lt a pop. Magnificent.

Upon arrival my wife her cousin and I were immediately asked by a surly waiter if we were "here for the Lithuanian food or the French food" presumably a reference to the Cili Kaimas down the street. Perhaps because we weren't dressed up they thought we weren't good enough to eat in their pricey establishment. We continued to order and ate a wonderful meal but the rudeness and general unfriendliness of the waiters continued. We also felt rushed and that they couldn't wait to get us out of the door once we had finished. In addition to all this the toilets were in a poorly maintained state with a broken toilet seat and the taps on the sink didn't work properly. Not what you expect from a restaurant that by local standards is extremely expensive. Approach with caution if you look below the age of 50 and or are not dressed to the nines.
Absolutely wonderful! The decor is lovely, service attentive but unobtrusive both are stellar, but the food at this establishment is some of the best this foodie has eaten on 4 continents. A perfect dining experience. I cannot recommend it enough.
As the only 'haute cuisine' restaurant I've been to in Vilnius, I can only compare to the other ones abroad. La provence serves excellent food, a bit too much 'novelle cuisine', perhaps, but, still very good combinations. Perhaps some more traditional mediterrean recipes could be offered, but, only if well made! Still after spending 200 Lts per person (including wine) ... I do expect to be served good food!
