Forto Dvaras
An increasingly large national franchise of folk restaurants pandering to people in danger of becoming increasingly large themselves, Forto Dvaras offers quality traditional Lithuanian food in a folksy interior without going completely over the top. The food is authentic, immensely filling if you choose the right dish, and for the location exceptionally good value for money, whilst the service is in general reasonably friendly and thoughtful. The summertime outdoor seating provides some of the best people-watching in the capital15Lt

Excellent Lithuanian food at reasonable prices. One of my favourites in Vilnius!
The Lithuanian menu is pages and pages long, with every kind of cepelinai and potato pancake under the sun. There's certainly variety as long as you don't require anything with vitamins in it. If you're sitting at a table located in one of the nooks or crannies, you might have to ambush and wrestle a waitress to the ground to get her attention so you can order. (No, just kidding, but I did have to stand up and discretely wave to get a very kind but harried girl to take my order. Once she took my order, the service was just fine. It was getting her to see me that took some effort.) You should try Forto Dvaras so you can tell your friends you ate cepelinai and managed to get up from the table afterward. Unless you're going out to plow a field or chop a cord of wood, you probably won't need to eat anything else for the rest of the day. All in all, a rather enjoyable "Lithuanian" experience.
