A brilliant collection of medieval cellars designed for a slightly upmarket folk-themed dining experience, ignore the international dishes and plunge into the traditional food. Those eating in groups should consider one of the big mixed platters, which are good value and fun to share. Also worth trying is the fresh in-house beer, made in the old-fashioned unpasteurised fashion and a rare treat indeed. Also check out their fast weekday lunch if you're in a hurry.

A friend and I visited this "restaurant" after seeing it recommended both in the Vilnius in Your Pocket guidebook (which we loved - very witty and irreverant!) and in a feature in the Daily Telegraph UK recently. How wrong these publications are. This has to be one of the worst dining experiences ever! The place is a complete dump. Terrible lighting uncomfortable hideous cellar rooms and absolutely no atmosphere whatsoever. Having visited the KGB prison in the Genocide Museum it is clear where the owners got their inspiration for this place - the ambience is on a par with the prison's solitary confinement cells. Truly awful. Our food was disgustingly almost comically inedible. Beetroot soup was a bowl of hot water with some grated beetroot dropped in. And as for the Zeppelins a classic Lithuanian dish well if that is their national dish no wonder the locals are all so miserable and joyless. Grey mini-rugby balls of stodge covered in what looked suspiciously like vomit - foul beyond description. Unfriendly staff (no surprise there in this city) topped off a thoroughly memorable - but for all the wrong reasons - meal. Granted the food's cheap - but then how much would you realistically expect to pay for the kind of slop the poor guests of the KGB probably got? The food here puts the vile in Vilnius.
Some of the best food we found in Vilnius. Favoured by locals entertaining visitors because of the delightful cosy setting and quality food. Really delicious (try the 1/2m sausage and the "Little-bit-of-everything" plate). Pity they only have the usual mass market beer and none of the very lovely new beers from the growing number of micro-breweries. Recommended
