Baltic-American is a medical clinic and your experience will depend on who you get.Our baby was born there and we had a wonderful experience both with our OB/GYN (Jurate Zmudzinaite) and the follow-up care in the clinic. Raca, the mid-wife and the entire staff treated us like royalty. It was excellent and we highly recommend them. However, we have had two bad experiences with their Pediatrician and can not recommend her at all.The Opthamologist (Irene, I believe) seems very good, friendly and knowledgable. It is a long trip to the Baltic American Clinic, which will cost about 20lta from the old town if you go by taxi. If it is not an emergency, ask around before going to the Baltic American Clinic and make sure you get someone who can be recommended before setting an appointment. Overall the quality of care is good, but the approach of their staff is sometimes more Baltic than it is American.

My husband is currently working in Vilnius and our daughter and I live in Finland and visit Vilnius regularly. On one of our trips to Vilnius on May 2009 our 18-year daughter fell ill and she knew from experience that she had a throat infection (angina). So we phoned this clinic and as we got there the service was neither friendly nor in English. Our daughter was diagnosed in less than five minutes and she was told by a lithuanian speaking doctor (via a receptionist as a translator) that she just had caught a cold and (as she already knew), that she had a runny nose and a sore throat... For some reason (luckily) she was given a prescription for antibiotics for her 'runny nose'... They charged us dearly and getting a receipt for her insurance in English would have cost an other 100 lita. It took my husband a phone call and an other visit to the clinic to get some kind of receipt of a 'visit to emergency room'. My husband has visited an other private Lithuanian clinic (that does not boast on their English speaking services) for quite a few times during his stay and has been happy with their service, so judging by our first visit we would not recommend the Baltic-American clinic as the best alternative to visit.
