It feels like forever since the legendary Pilies Pasažo Kavinė closed its doors for the last time, a sad passing that did at least leave room for the opening almost a decade later of this thoroughly recommended affair. Vilniaus Alus (Vilnius Beer) is a tiny little place located in a small courtyard that specialises in selling good beer at good prices to good people who often turn bad after a few litres of the stuff. Also arranging beer-tasting sessions, perhaps the most wonderful thing to know about this place is that at the beer in question is jaw-droppingly cheap. At the time of going to press the house beer was retailing for a ridiculous 3.50Lt a litre.
