Lithuanian Blind Museum [Lietuvos Aklųjų Istorijos Muziejus]

This highly recommended albeit miniscule exhibition celebrating the history of the blind and partially sighted people of Lithuania is packed with intriguing displays, from miscellaneous items made by the blind to small models of the country’s most important buildings and monuments designed for people who can't see to touch and consequently understand how Lithuania’s most important cultural treasures look. The museum also highlights some of the country’s more renowned blind citizens, among them athletes, artists and the inspiring woman who became the 1976 Soviet chess champion, Stasė Ingaunytė. Unfortunately, none of the displays are in English, making a guided tour, available in either English or German, imperative.

Admission free.
