With everything thoughtfully labelled in French and Macedonian and staff only capable of communicating in the latter, Skopje’s spaceship-style reinforced concrete central post office features an astonishing 26 windows, most of them closed, through which to try and communicate. EMS services are handled at windows N°2 and N°3, faxes can be sent from window N°4, and photocopies if you need them can be made courtesy of window N°12. General things like stamps, postcards and first-day covers are available behind windows N°15 and N°16. International telephone calls can be made from the room on the right as you enter. Take a ticket, pay, and wait for your number to come up. And for God's sake don't even think about taking a photograph in here - the thugs who masquerade as security guards will be down on you like a ton of bricks.
I have good experiences with mail service.... Sent parcels to Australia and both arrived no problem at all! Had nothing but pleasant experience
On October 13 I sent a package to Skopje, now it's Nov 10th and it still has not arrived. What a shame for your country.
I wrote to my niece Olga and ALL of her letters are stolen by post office personnel. What, may I ask, are they running over there. Is it a Post Office, or a bunch of thieves?
EDITOR: We tried to find out, Ingrid, but security kicked us out of the post office for taking photos of the artwork...
