Parks

Walk or drive through Podgorica and you can't help but notice how green the city is. There are small parks and flower beds between suburban buildings, a tradition started during the post-war rebuilding of the city. From 1951 to 1954 a large-scale campaign to plant trees in the suburbs was carried out, with mainly cypress and Aleppo pines planted which could thrive in Podgorica's  poor, stony soil and long dry summers.
