Belfast City Centre will celebrate St Patrick’s Day on Sat 17 March with all the colour and splendor of the annual carnival parade. Departing from Belfast City Hall at 12:00, the parade will snake its way through the rejuvenated city centre, along Royal Avenue and High Street, and ending at Custom House Square.
This year's theme is ‘2012’ celebrating one amazing year of unique events from the centenary of the Titanic to the 2012 Olympic Games. Carnival co-ordinators, The Beat, has been working with community groups across the city to explore how this memorable year will impact on their events calendar.
So get yourself into the city centre to see unique eye-catching floats and breathtaking feats from street performers as people of all ages and all parts of the city celebrate all things 2012.
The parade will finish at Custom House Square with a free outdoor concert featuring local acts and guest appearances. The show begins at 13:00 and finishes at approx. 15:00. Entry to the concert will be on a first come first served basis. Gates will open at 12:00 and U16s must be accompanied by an adult.
St. George’s Market will be open on St Patrick’s Day from 09:00 - 15:00 selling bunches of shamrocks and other saintly treats. There will also be a special Irish Dancing performance at 11:30. And Belfast City Centre will be open for business as usual on St Patrick’s Day from 09:00 - 18:00.
