Hidden Belfast - city secrets revealed

Hidden Belfast - city secrets revealed
There's a lot going on in this city, especially if you know where to look. To help you unearth these secret treats, we've come up with our favourite things to do. The one thing they all have in common is that they have (almost) nothing in common.

Keep coming back for more as and when we find them - and why not submit your own discoveries at belfast@inyourpocket.com? Enjoy.

Plot 51 Supper Club
Dine in a secret location and with a group of people you've never met before.

ReFound recycled furniture
Accessorise your home with a piece of old furniture revamped by a local artist. Subscribe online for news of the next pop-up shop.

Good Vibes record shop
Pow wow with Terri Hooley, the music guru who discovered The Undertones, in his small yet perfectly formed vinyl record shop. Find it near the back entrance of Castle Court Shopping Centre, Royal Avenue.

Black Box Black Market
On the first Sunday of every month, creative types congregate at this Cathedral Quarter space to buy and sell all manner of boho goodies.

St. George's Market on Sunday
Not quite 'hidden', we know, but this grand old Victorian ediface has, at long last, opened its doors to Sunday shoppers. Which means fewer folk than Saturday (for the time being) and more chance of getting a seat.

Fashion Souk
Join fellow thread fans on the second Sunday of every month at this upcycle/recycle jumble of market stalls. Vintage and handmade clothes and accessories are all up for grabs. Now based at the Europa Hotel.

BBC Broadcasting House free postcards
The perfect spot to nab some free postcards of local slebs to send to your loved ones back home. What ex-pat wouldn't want a pic of Jackie Fullerton or Gerry Anderson adorning their mantlepiece? Just nip into reception and they're on the right-hand wall (the postcards, that is).

NI cycle routes
Get on yer bike snd see the city and country with the wind whistling through your helmet. The Lagan and Lough Cycle Way from Lisburn to Jordanstown is a lovely, mostly traffic-free, route worthy of your pedal power. Hire a bike atMcConvey Cycles.

Watch the planes from Victoria Park
This East Belfast park is right beside George Best Belfast City Airport and, as such, planes taking-off and landing seem so close you could almost tickle their undercarriage.

Thank you for this site. I really enjoy Belfast and go whenever I get a chance, even a day trip on train from Dublin. I am a member of Tourism Ireland's Shamrock Club - Ireland specialist travel agent and take a group to Ireland every year. My favorite place on the planet!
